HOW DO I KNOW WHICH MENU BAR I have in my website?

This depends on which template package you downloaded from your members page.

On your members page, you will see the link to download your template package:

  • FrontPage DWT: (FP2003 only)

  • FrontPage: (2002/2002/2003)

  • Dreamweaver / HTML
    (Dreamweaver / HTML editors)

your members page will be created for you with your first purchase

Your website includes 2 menu bar types.
  • A vertical menu bar
  • A horizontal menu bar

Both of these menu bars can easily be modified to include additional pages, remove existing pages, and change the names on the buttons to suit your needs.

Learn how to edit your MENU Bar, by selecting the menu bar type from the list below:

How do I change the
4 flash images


(the 4 themed images)

 

Your web pages includes 4 'themed' images in the flash header and (if included with the template the INTRO). These images can be changed without the need for Flash or Swish. Just replace these images with your own
  • Using your favorite 'image' editor, create four new (NON PROGRESSIVE) jpeg images, naming each image as follows:

    flash-image1.jpg
    flash-image2.jpg
    flash-image3.jpg
    flash-image4.jpg
     

  • Size the images as follows

    WIDTH = 300 pixels
    HEIGHT = 145 pixels

     

  • SAVE or IMPORT these four new images into the FLASH folder of this website to over write the existing images
     
  • IMPORTANT: Flash will not display a JPG image that is saved in the 'PROGRESSIVE' format. YOU MUST save the JPG image in a NON PROGRESSIVE format if you are asked for this option.

How do I change the
Website Name


(the Website Name graphic)

FREE LOGO service includes:

  • modifying the text in the: 'Website Name' graphic image with your own text

  • testing the new image for size and position

  • uploading new image with installation instructions to your members page

  • turn around time 1-3 days

Your website displays a 'generic' 'Website Name' line of text in the header area of the web page. This text can easily be modified.

You will be editing the 'Template DWT' page:

  • open the 'Templates' folder
  • open the 'template.dwt' page
  • highlight and edit the text to suit your own company name
     
  • ADVANCED EDITING of the WEBSITE NAME Style

To edit the color of the FONT, the font TYPE, or font SIZE you can do this directly on the page, but I really recommend that you try to edit the 'style' applied to the 'Website Name' text, by editing the stylesheet.

  • open the styles folder
  • open the 'stylesheet.css' page
  • locate the 'logo' style on line 76
  • edit the properties of the logo here
 

How do I change the
TAGLINE


(the text that is displayed with the images in the flash header)

 

Your website displays a 'generic' 'Tagline' line of text in the header area of the web page. This text can easily be modified.

You will be editing the 'Template DWT' page:

  • open the 'Templates' folder
  • open the 'template.dwt' page
  • highlight and edit the text to suit your own website tagline
     
  • ADVANCED EDITING of the TAGLINE Style

To edit the color of the FONT, the font TYPE, or font SIZE you can do this directly on the page, but I really recommend that you try to edit the 'style' applied to the 'TAGLINE' text, by editing the stylesheet.

  • open the styles folder
  • open the 'stylesheet.css' page
  • locate the 'tagline' style on line 66
  • edit the properties of the logo here

If you are not too familiar with editing the stylesheet, you can always edit the text directly on the DWT page.

 

How do I change the
Search Box

 


(the GOOGLE site search)

 

A great way to help with your Google listings, is to include a Google site search on your web pages. Once your site has been spidered by Google, your visitors will easily be able to locate information in your website using the Google Search Box.

How do I add and
remove pages

Ah, so simple, yet so elusive! There are quite a few methods used to add and remove pages from your website. Pick up some tips from our lead designer, and learn how we save time and effort when building websites.
  • To add a new page, create a duplicate of an existing page
    • open the 'template.htm' page
    • with the 'template.htm' page open, click on the file menu
    • select 'Save As' on the file menu
    • in the 'File Name: box, type in a new name for the page
      (you'll create a duplicate of the open page)
    • select the folder you wish to save the new page to (or leave in the same folder as the original)
    • click 'Save'
  • To remove a page, highlight, and press delete on the keyboard
