March means different things to different people.  Sports people get excited for

“March Madness” and the NCAA basketball tournament, which now, by the way,

does not end until April.  The Irish think about the land of their ancestors and Saint

Patrick and many even wear green to commemorate this day.  History buffs might

think of the Ides of March and associate it with Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire.  This year during March many will draw their attention to Easter and the celebration of the resurrection.  We as a church will celebrate our 95th year as a body of believers!

Looking at the calendar, particularly March, someone on the outside would think we are a people who like to celebrate.  I suppose that is true.  We do mark much of our calendar by times for celebration.  It is also true

that many of those celebrations have roots in special times with God; worship times.  You could say even God likes to celebrate.

In the Bible (Luke 15) Jesus tells three stories of things that were lost and then found.  At the end of each

of those stories there was a celebration.  In verse 10 there is something mentioned that is of particular importance to us even today, as well as something often over looked.  When someone becomes a child of God, a Christ follower, all of heaven has a party - wow!  God does like to celebrate, to have a party.  What do you think - could we, in the middle of our celebrations (particularly as we think of Easter) cause all of heaven to celebrate by walking across the room and telling others what God has done in Jesus for us?  Let’s Party!

SUNDAY SCHOOL INFORMATION:

Sunday School Mentoring – Next session will be March 11. The topic for that evening is “Evaluating and Providing Space.” The vans will leave from our church at 6:15 PM for those interested in riding over to Mt. Zion as a group. I appreciate the faithfulness of our leaders who have been regularly attending these sessions. We have heard some really good stuff about Sunday School. The principles we are learning are solid Great Commission principles that will help us as a church not only in Sunday School, but in all areas of our ministry.

Youth will return to their e-teams, meeting in the FLC. Children will continue their study, Bible Buddies, learning Scripture and books of the Bible. The children meet downstairs on the children’s hall. Join us for these studies as we continue to grow stronger in our spiritual bodies.

Basketball/Cheerleading games are now over.  It was a great season for all of

the kids that played and cheered.  Nothing is more heart warming than seeing a

child score in a game who never thought they would be able to do so.  I want to

send out a special thanks to my dedicated staff:  Jan, Meredith, Stephanie and Christina Price.  Without my family, I could not do this ministry.  They are truly a blessing to my life.  I also want to thank Travis McDaniel and his family.  Travis served as my commissioner and answered every call when I needed help.  Teresa, Bethany and Cole pitched in and worked the concession stand as well.  Thanks to his family for sharing him with this ministry.

Ken Benton was there every morning, bright and early to serve how ever he was needed.  Thanks Ken for your devotion to serving God and our community.

Joan Hendrickson was my light that lit up the scorer’s table on Saturday mornings.  Thanks for your continued support.

I had others that helped as well - Beth Haley who organized the halftime messages.  These folks

included Greg & Sayler Hasty, Banks & Beth Haley, Creative Ministries (Jimi, Amy & Cheryl
